Learn To Swim Program

We are accepting swimmers into our 
Learn-to-Swim program (3+ yrs old) from our waitlist, based on date of entry. Please click below to be added to our list!


Starting at 6 months of age, our students will not only discover the love for water but they will also learn the skills that will boost their self-esteem and athleticism outside of the pool!

Swimming is rite of passage and important life skill for your child. Learning to swim is also extremely beneficial to your child's physical, emotional and social development. Our team of highly trained instructors will guide your swimmer through the necessary fundamentals to achieve a higher level of water safety and confidence. Through the use of games, toys and songs, our lesson introduce students to important swim techniques in an engaging and positive manner.

BABY BEAR Program
6 months up to 3 years old
Scientific studies have shown that early aquatic stimulation develops a child in three key areas: physically, mentally and emotionally. Children who swim consistently from infancy are shown to be significantly stronger and more coordinated than those who dont. 

Our Baby Bear clases are in a "Baby and Me" format so mom or dad get to share in the fun, excitement and sense of accomplishment that comes with each lesson! We believe that our Baby Bear swim program is the most progressive, fun and nurturing infant/toddler swim program around. Your child will quickly develop a love and respect for the water while building strength and skills used in every aspect of their lives!
LEARN TO SWIM Program
3+ years old
Our Learn to Swim program is built around 4 key principles: Fun, Safety, Customer Service, and unsurpassed Swim Instruction!

Our goal at Silver Bear is to help our students develop a life-long love and respect for the water. Therefore, we have meticulously set up a program that fosters a healthy and successful aquatic classroom.

Our child-centered approach encourages each swimmer to progress at his or her own pace in a safe, fun and nurturing environment. We match our teaching techniques with where a child is developmentally and we always take age and skill level into consideration. The levels of our progressive swim curriculum are like building blocks – the skills learned in the previous level lay the foundation for the next until your swimmer is able to swim all the competitive racing strokes in a technically sound manor

What Makes Silver Bear Swim School Unique...

SKILL BASED LESSONS

We organize our lessons by skill and age. Once we assess a student's ability, we assign them to the appropriate bear level (Baby Bear, Teddy Bear, Panda Bear, etc). After they master the skills in that level, they graduate to the next bear level. This allows each swimmer to progress at his or her own pace and celebrate milestones along the way!

SMALL GROUP LESSONS

We believe that small group lessons are a more effective and fun way for most children to learn to swim. 
For most classes we utilize a 4:1 child to teacher ratio and for our youngest independent swimmers a 2:1 ratio. Peer demonstration and social interactions within the small group setting have proven to be very effective teaching tools!

YEAR-ROUND SWIMMING

Swimming year-round is the best way to protect your child from having a water related emergency. Repetition over time builds the  muscle memory needed to become a proficient and safe swimmer. Year-round swimmers retain a healthy respect for the water and build skills way beyond of those seasonal swimmers.

Our pools are specifically designed and built for teaching children to swim in a welcoming and fun environment! By utilizing the latest technology available in the pool industry, our 90-degree water and top of the line filtration system provide a safe and comfortable environment for every little swimmer, while mom or dad wait and watch comfortably in our temperature controlled waiting room!

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • SAFETY - There is no such thing as water being safe. Swim lessons should never replace constant adult supervision. We believe that year-round swim lessons are one component of being "water safer".
  • FUN - Having fun is crucial to a child's learning process, because it keeps them open to creative ideas and new  experiences. This is why Silver Bear makes fun the main ingredient of all our lessons. 
  • STRUCTURE - We organize our lessons by skill and age. Once we assess a student's ability we assign them to a bear level (Baby Bears, Teddy Bears, Panda Bears, Koala Bears, Polar Bears, Black Bears, and Silver Bears. 
  • MOVEMENT - Children are gross motor creatures and constant movement helps them learn more readily and stay engaged. Our students keep moving all lesson long which is good for their physical fitness and keeps them focused and excited!
  • DRILLING - You will find lots for repetition through drilling in our lessons. The use of drills helps create muscle memory. Children respond to sequential patterns because they know what to expect - therefore they spend energy on learning - not wondering what will happen next.
